“Demon Slayer” breaking the records despite the pandemic.

I finally went to see the most talked-about movie of this year in Japan, “Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba –“ and loved it, being moved with tears.

Demon Slayer

Surprisingly, this animated movie has been breaking box office records despite pandemic in Japan.

Based on a popular manga series, which set in the early 20th century Japan, depicting a boy fighting human-eating demons after his family is slaughtered by a demon and his younger sister is turned into a demon (how sad…) , trying to find a way to return his sister to a human again.

The movie is the sequel to an anime television series aired in Japan last year. So, there are no explanation about the character settings told in the movie. It’s unprecedented for such a sequel of amine series gets a big hit when being made into a movie.

Some Japanese people watch it without watching or reading the previous stories on anime or manga comics, because the movie has become so hot topic that simply cannot wait to watch it. Unfortunately, however, I say, it would be a bit pity that they cannot taste the story fully, since they can’t get the touch of each character’s background and their relationships. (For me, THAT is the key to feel the story!)

Good news is that the English-dubbed or subtitled versions will be released in North America in early 2021, hopefully. I recommend you to watch anime series or read manga series which are already translated into foreign languages if you’re interested in watching this fabulous movie in the near future.
