People wearing Happi coats carry portable shrines through the streets to bring the Gods’ blessing to the whole local area. Each group has their own portable shrine and their own Happi, tightens togetherness.
The most major three portable shrines belong to Asakusa Shrine. “Sanja” means three shrines, representing three people found a statue of Buddha in the 7th century. The statue is now enshrined in Senso-ji Temple and three people found the statue are enshrined in Asakusa Shrine.
